Horwich Harriers’ Rob Jackson won the inaugural Radcliffe Three Day Challenge at the weekend.

The series consisted of the Bull Hill Fell Race, Giant’s Seat Cross Country and the Radcliffe five mile trail race over three consecutive days.

And Jackson finished fifth, second and first in the three races. He also took the over-40 prize.

Burnden Roadrunner Andy Duffy took part and completed the testing event in 2.22:50 to finish 16th and seventh V45.

Martyn Pollitt and Andy Staveley were Burnden’s representatives at the 21-mile Wasdale Fell Race, which included 9,000ft of climbing.

Pollitt ran strongly to finish 29th and second V45 in 5.28:16, while Staveley came home in 5.45:38.

Graham Schofield finished in sixth, Steve Nolan 10th and Tony Varley 78th to give Horwich third team place.

Burnden’s Stewart Jones and Izzy Hughes picked up prizes at the Gill Pimblott 5K in Tyldesley.

Jones was eighth and second V50 in 19:02, Hughes was fourth female and first L40 in 21:14.
