Loughborough’s Kirsty Milner, 20, won a thrilling 3000m final at the 2010 British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.
She beat Bristol’s 21-year-old Imogen Ainsworth, to the gold by fifteen hundredths of a second in a sensational race which went right down to the final 100m. After the race Milner, who hails from Bolton, was understandably ecstatic with the victory.
“I feel absolutely brilliant,” she said. “It’s my first ever UK indoors and it’s my last year as a student so I thought I’d come here and have some fun; I’ve really enjoyed it and am thrilled with the win.”
