Start running with the Roadrunners

7:50am Tuesday 23rd February 2010

BURNDEN Roadrunners have set up a beginners group in a bid to introduce novice runners to the sport.

The Smithills-based running club hopes to help new runners through the initial stages of taking up the activity.

As part of the Run in England national initiative the club hope to encourage and inspire people who want to take up running or just want to get fit enough to take part in a charity run.

The beginners group welcomes aspiring runners, whatever their level and ambitions. If they enjoy it they could carry on in the beginners group or join the club.

The beginners group meets at 6.30pm on Mondays at Smithills Sports Centre for a session of around 45 minutes prior to the main club run at 7.30pm.

Although Burnden has some members who can run a 2hr 45min marathon or complete the Ironman Triathlon, they have always welcomed beginners during their 25-year existence.

Anyone interested in taking part should visit www.burndenroadrunners.co.uk for further details. For more information on the Run for England initiative visit www.runinengland.co.uk.
