DARTFORD Harriers runners Leon Goodwin and Tony Durey were separated by only two places in the fifth meeting of the Kent Fitness League at Fowlmead Park yesterday.
Goodwin placed 21st, coming home slightly ahead of Durey in 23rd spot.
There were a lot of twisting woodland paths and quite a few puddles, made worse by the remnants of the coal from the former Betteshanger mine, so most runners ended with black, muddy legs.
Dartford Harriers results: 21st - Leon Goodwin, 23rd - Tony Durey, 74th - Frank Hudson, 95th - Steve Hickmott, 152nd - Kevin Ashdown, 166th - Steve Smith, 190th - Steph Wood, 235th - Gill Skellon, 264th - Jenny Goodwin and 284th - Maureen Farmer.
