Full field for popular triathlon

2:33pm Tuesday 7th July 2009

SUNDAY’S White Oak & Dartford TC triathlon has stopped taking entries after all available spaces were snapped up.

The event incorporates a 400m swim, a 26km bike ride and an 8km run.

First competitors will be setting off at White Oak Leisure Centre in Swanley at 7am.

Race organiser John Setford said: “It’s great to see the event full and welcome so many athletes to north west Kent for this annual event.

“We’re hoping to build on the success of previous years.”

A full field shows the attraction of triathlon as a great way to build or maintain fitness for all ages.

The oldest competitor is 75 and the youngest 18.

Last year’s overall winner Neil Harris will be hoping to repeat his performance from 12 month ago, although he will be looking to increase his winning margin from a slim eight seconds.
