THE Countryside Tour of Horwich and Rivington is a five-stage event over six days from Tuesday June 19 to Sunday June 24.

The SIS Lever Park Run is the first race on Tuesday at 7.30pm from the Crown Hotel, Chorley New Road, Horwich. It is roughly 6K on paths and trails.

Wednesday at 7.30pm sees the Horwich RMI Jubilee 5M Road Race from Rivington Bowling Club.

The Walsh Two Lads Fell Race on Thursday is 5.25 miles and includes 900 feet of ascent. It starts at 7.30pm from the Bridge Inn on Church Street, Horwich.

The Joseph Holt Brewery Cross Country Race at 7.30pm on Friday is from Ridgemont Park, Horwich, but with registration at the Crown. The race is roughly 4.5 miles long.

The runners can rest on Saturday before completing the Tour with the Horwich Carnival Town Centre 5K, once again from the Crown. This one starts at 12.50pm, but there is a series of races on Sunday, including the British Masters (veterans) 5K Championships at 11.15am.

To accompany the Senior Tour, there is also a three-race junior series for under 17s. They are each roughly a mile long and comprise of a road run at 6.45pm on Wednesday, a cross country on Friday, at 6.45pm, and a Carnival Race at 1.35pm on Sunday - each is from the same venue of that day's senior races.
