BLACKBURN Rovers supporters were once again portrayed as the bad guys yesterday while the shambles of the last 12 months at Ewood Park continues to be glossed over.

The majority of Rovers fans are genuine, decent people, who care passionately about their football club, yet they continue to be made out as cold-hearted people intent on wrecking Venky’s and Steve Kean’s regime.

Jerome Anderson’s suggestion yesterday that there were “other things going on” among some of the protesters was baffling.

He also even questioned whether results had been that disappointing.

Any personal abuse aimed at anyone is unacceptable, of course it is, and there have been some who have gone way over the top and they deserve to be criticised.

But for most people any protests and concerns raised are simply because no-one wants to sit back and watch their club be taken into the abyss.

It is true we have rarely, if ever, seen such levels of protests for such a sustained period at a football club but it isn’t because Blackburn Rovers fans are unreasonable.

It is because their club is being taken into unknown territory.

The owners are nowhere to be seen, senior players are being frozen out, the club has been in free fall ever since Venky’s and Kean took over and yet the manager keeps telling everyone how great things are at the club.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out things are far from rosy.

Kean’s agent Anderson spent almost 15 minutes telling Sky Sports why he, Kean and the club have been hard done by.

It was almost as though he was trying to pass the blame on to the supporters.

He even claimed when he had finished assisting Venky’s during the last January transfer window, the club were “rocking”.

The only place that was ‘rocking’ was the foundations that a very well run club had been built on - as former directors left the club deeply concerned by what was going on.

Why is it so incredible that fans are questioning how on earth Kean remains in his job?

Look at what has happened since he took charge and there is no doubt, so far, he has failed.

There is no doubt he has been working in difficult situations, with Venky’s failing to give him enough support, but seeing as he continues to insist he has no complaints with their leadership, we can only believe him.

So why was his abysmal managerial record not touched upon during Anderson’s ‘big moment’?

Why were the number of players Kean has signed and then hardly played not brought up?

His situation was likened to Neil Warnock’s at QPR.

Yes, he was unlucky to have been sacked because he got the Hoops promoted and has them above Rovers in the Premier League.

Kean has no such track record.

This though goes far beyond Kean and a bad run of results.

Of course a lot of fans are angry that a change of manager has not happened but there is a bigger picture.

Rovers fans are not ‘bleating’ because they are losing a few games.

They are deeply concerned about the future of their football club, on the field and off it.

I agree it would be fantastic if every supporter could get fully behind the team during the 90 minutes of a game and, for the most part, they set out with that intention.

When things consistently go wrong, it is hard for people passionate about Rovers to stay positive.

Anderson’s interview yesterday just seemed like the latest in a long line of PR disasters.

How is that going to help the atmosphere on Saturday?

For me, it will just fuel the fires.

The reasoning behind his decision to go public now – after we made numerous requests to speak to him – is unknown.

Could it be that he wants to distance himself and his client from even worse times ahead?
