JAMES Brookens has made Blackburn and District Monday Pool League history by becoming the first player to win eight individual titles.
Brookens had jointly held the record with Steve Fleming but went one ahead when he beat Eamon Bufton of VIP Snooker 5-2 in the final held at the Manxman.
“It was a highly quality match and took just about 35 minutes to finish,” said Brookens. “There was a good crowd who saw three or four eight ball finishes.”
Brookens then teamed up with Fleming to beat Cabin End pair Mark Ashton and Jamie Ridsdale 5-4 in the pairs final.
Meanwhile, three players from the league were a part of the successful Lancashire B team that won the national inter county final in Great Yarmouth.
Darren Wareing and Ian Harle (both Cabin End) and Adrian Dugdale (VIP Snooker) were a part of the county side that beat Surrey B 23-21.
