RIBBLESDALE League raiders Edenfield look to make it three and easy and take another step towards shock qualification for the semi-finals of the Lancashire League Twenty20 competition tonight.

Greg Smithson’s men, winless and bottom of the Ribblesdale League, have stunned both Haslingden and Ramsbottom so far in this year’s Friday night tournament - and are in the mood for a Rossendale Valley treble when they make the trip down to neighbours Rawtenstall.

A win will see Edenfield hit nine points and their impressive run-rate means they are well placed for the last four.

“It will be a hard game against Rawtenstall,” said Smithson.

“They will be favourites but we will give it a good go and we do have a few players well suited to Twenty20.”

Francois du Plessis debuts in the short form for Ramsbottom when they face fellow Worsley Cup semi-finalists Bacup at Acre Bottom, while Colne professional Anwar Ali gets his first crack at derby rivals Nelson when the Pendle derby fires into life at Seedhill.

Nelson are top of Group C with two wins from two and Colin Pemberton’s men, beaten finalists last season, are looking good for a last-four spot.

Accrington are revived in this year’s tournament after their four-year Twenty20 win drought and have a two from two record to top Group A.

They have no game tonight so Church will aim to overhaul them at the summit when they play East Lancs.

Mark Bolton’s men have one win and one defeat from this year’s tournament – and realistically must win in order to maintain serious interest in the competition.
