ACCRINGTON retained the ELGA scratch and President’s Trophy competition on home territory on Saturday.
The same Accrington team won the event at Blackburn Golf Club last year. Paul Biggins (76-4-72); Jason Ashworth (75-2-73); Chris Nuttall (72-2-70) and Ian Hardman (72-2-70) posted a gross aggregate score of 295 to win the Scratch Shield by three shots over the second-placed Clitheroe team.
A nett aggregate score of 285 was good enough also to take the President’s Trophy.
The medal for the lowest gross score on the day was won by Clive Robertson of Green Haworth Golf Club with a 69.
