EAST Lancs captain Phil Bolton is hoping his side can kick-start their season with a victory at home to Ramsbottom in the SponsorBank Lancashire League tomorrow.

The 2003 champions have hardly made the most auspicious of starts to the campaign, tasting defeat against Lowerhouse and Nelson, before last Sunday's game at Haslingden was washed out.

He said: "It's not the start we wanted but in both of the games against Lowerhouse and Nelson we got ourselves into winning positions and then let ourselves down," said the East Lancs skipper.

"It needs some of the senior players to take on a bit more responsibility."

Bolton misses tomorrow's game with Ramsbottom at the Meadows so Paul Turner takes over as captain.

Richard Hevingham's Ramsbottom field an unchanged team.

TODMORDEN skipper Stuart Priestley is hoping his side can raise their game as they take on Bacup and their star pro Chris Cairns.

He said: "This is the kind of challenge you play the game for. I'm really looking forward to it and hope that the boys can raise their game to meet the challenge head on."

Tom Marsh comes in for Oliver Wood.

Callum Jones replaces Tim Farragher in Bacup's side.

CHURCH name an unchanged side for their derby game at home to Enfield.

But skipper Phil Sykes reckons his side will have to be at their best against a team he thinks will be challenging for honours.

He said: "Bernard Reidy's made a big difference to them with his bowling and his experience but we'll just be concentrating on what we do to try and get a result."

But Enfield will be on a revenge mission.

The Dill Hall Lane side, with former Church players Chris Maudsley and Craig Fergusson in the camp, were beaten twice by their neighbours last season.

"That's the first time that had happened for quite a few years," said Bracewell, who is without Paul Swarbrick, Andy Barker and Mick Devanney, while Adam Bracewell, Matt Taylor and Maudsley return.

"We have got off to a positive start, which is unusual as our first three games are against sides who have been champions in the last three years."

HASLINGDEN skipper Stuart Catterall misses the visit of Rishton but he's hoping his side can carry on their recent good form. He said: "We're starting to click into gear.

"But their pro Vernon Philander is really firing and Peter Sleep is back so it'll be a tough game."

Michael Blomley comes into the side for Catterall.

Returning Rishton skipper Sleep is hoping his side can maintain their impressive start to the season at Bentgate.

Sleep missed the first couple of weeks of the season because he was playing for an Australian touring side in a 20/20 competition in Bermuda.

"The way Rishton have played whilst I've been away, they don't really need me," said the skipper.

"I didn't expect us to win two of the opening three games, but it's been a great effort by the lads."

BURNLEY skipper Jonathan Harvey is urging his side to up their game to grab their first win of the season against COLNE.

He said: "This is a big weekend for us.

"We were in the driving seat last Sunday before the rain came so we need to make sure we get that first win as soon as possible."

Ben Law replaces James Capstick in the side.

Colne will stick with the side that picked up their first win of the season against Rishton on Sunday.

John Lambert, who sprained an ankle in nets, misses the trip.

RICHARD Wood will make his first appearance of the season for Rawtenstall at Accrington tomorrow.

Wood comes in for Peter Wrathmell in the only change from last weekend's team.

Accrington captain Matt Wilson, meanwhile, will name an unchanged side.

NELSON and LOWERHOUSE both field unchanged teams for their clash.
