Burnley's teenage midfielder Chris McCann has followed in the footsteps of striker Kyle Lafferty by signing his first professional deal at Turf Moor.
The 18-year-old Dubliner has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract, which runs until the summer of 2009.
McCann, a Republic Of Ireland Under 19 international signed from Home Farm, made his league debut as a substitute against Coventry in August after completing his first year as an apprentice and then impressing during last summer's training camp in Austria.
Cotterill said: "We think that Chris has shown good promise in the last few months.
"We are pleased that we've got this sorted out and we look forward to him improving as a player."
