THERE will be no love lost between brothers Glenn and Jason Lord when they take to the track on Sunday.

The pair are contesting the opening round of Warton Stock Car Club’s Outlaws Championship – and Glenn’s got a score to settle.

The 51-year-old from Great Harwood was denied victory in the final race of the 2009 season when he was put into the barriers by his own brother.

The manoeuvre handed 38-year-old Jason, who lives in Oswaldtwistle, the win – and his first championship title.

“I don’t harbour any grudges, because I’d do the same to him!” said Glenn, who is a former lifeguard.

“But he won’t get the chance to do it again.

“As the champion he has to start from the back of the grid for every race, so he’ll have some catching up to do.

“Joking apart, I was happy to see him win the champ-ionship.

“I won the same title in 1996 and we are the only brothers to do that in the 35-year history of the club.

“We enjoy the banter, it’s all part of the attraction of stock car racing.”

The pair are contesting all 14 rounds at the Carnforth track in their self-built, Buick V8-powered mach-ines.

The fomat of each meeting sees points scored for the two qualifying races, the final and the Grand National at each meeting, with 11 rounds to count.

And Glenn, who has been racing since 1982, is hoping to continue his winning streak. In the seven preliminary races at Warton so far this season, he’s won four – although none count towards the final points tally.

“It’s a good omen, and hopefully I can continue on Sunday – although I will be keeping one eye in the mirror for Jason.”
