YILDIRAY Basturk has shown glimpses of the class that once made him one of Europe's top creative midfielders - but was unable to force a breakthrough at Fleetwood.
The Turk, who signed from Stuttgart last month until the end of the season, was the stand out player in the first 45 minutes of Rovers' reserves friendly, with his touch and vision promising for the rest of the campaign.
It was Basturk's through ball that created the best chance of the half for Junior Hoilett but the young Canadian hit his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
Maceo Rigters also bent a shot wide, as did Aaron Doran, as a strong Rovers side dominated without managing to score the opener.
Algerian midfielder Amine Linganzi looked strong in the centre of the park, while Vince Grella and Lars Jacobsen got through their first 45 minutes of the year as they continue their return from injury.
