BLACKBURN Rovers are set to add Algerian midfielder Amine Linganzi to their ranks before the close of the transfer window – but won’t expect him to make any immediate impact.

Linganzi has impressed boss Sam Allardyce during a spell training with the club and is available from current club St Etienne for a nominal fee.

Rovers though won’t rush to seal the signing of the 20-year-old, although are hopeful it will be concluded by the end of the month, with his likely addition more for the future rather than now.

The midfielder won’t be thrown into the Premier League limelight instantly, with any impact not expected until next season, but Rovers do believe they have unearthed another bargain.

Any potential move for former Monaco midfielder Camel Meriem remains unlikely though as Rovers remain aware of the next season’s ‘home-grown player’ restrictions.
