BLACKBURN Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has been chosen alongside Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt, actor Ricky Gervais and TV presenters Ant and Dec to appear for the first time in Who's Who.

Inclusion in Who's Who, which contains potted biographies of 33,000 of the most famous, talented and influential people in the world, is a major accolade with only 1,000 names added each year.

Mr Allardyce, 55, is one of only five Premiership managers invited to appear in Who's Who.

The others are Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Martin O'Neill and David Moyes, who like Sam Allardyce is also making his debut in Who's Who.

The fifteen Premiership managers still waiting to be invited to appear in the book include Burnley's Owen Coyle, Liverpool's Rafael Benitez, Chelsea's Carlo Ancelotti and Spurs' Harry Redknapp.

Mr Allardyce and David Moyes are joined in the 2010 edition of Who's Who by George Burley, who was sacked just three weeks ago as Scotland manager.

The book had already been printed at the time of his sacking.

Everyone in Who's Who is invited to compile his or her own entry, so entries can be as long or as short as celebrities wish.

People remain in the book throughout their lifetime.

The late romantic novelist, Dame Barbara Cartland, took over virtually an entire page to list her achievements.

But the entry for Mr Allardyce is comparatively brief and modest.

He takes up just eleven lines to explain his life story.

In his entry, he mentions going to school in Dudley, his playing and management career, wife Lynne, whom he wed in 1974, and their two children.

He lists his recreations as golf, tennis, food and wine.

The 2010 edition of Who's Who is published by A & C Black today, priced at £200.
