CLITHEROE go into tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash with fellow Unibond side Salford City on the back of two league wins but manager Peter Smith is still expressing caution.
“There’s no doubt that wins against Woodley and Radcliffe mean we can go to Salford with a certain amount of confidence but we will be under no illusions – it will be a toughie,” he said.
Clitheroe have lost just twice in eight games but Smith points out that Salford are also unbeaten in five.
“What’s more, they have a good cup record,” he added. “They beat Hyde from Conference North in the FA Cup before taking another top team Blyth Spartans to a replay, and in the Trophy they beat Durham City so we know we face a good side. We can’t afford to let our form slip.”
Jerrome Matthews misses the game for Clitheroe because of suspension and Kev Brown faces an fitness test.
