PADIHAM boss Graham Haworth will want to see his side hit back in style after crashing to a midweek 3-1 defeat to Ramsbottom.

For the Storks, the result was a bitter pill to swallow especially after a win over Ashton Athletic.

But that underlined the side’s lack of consistency this season which they will hope to rectify when they visit First Division side Irlam in the League Cup.

Padiham will have a full squad to choose from but manager Howarth is not taking their opponents lightly.

“We played Irlam twice last year and they were one of the better footballing sides,” he said “People will probably look at us coming from a higher division and expect us to go through but we know anything is possible in these games and first and foremost we need to guard against a shock.”

Howarth has a full squad to choose from and he received more good news this week when long-term injury victim Michael Morrison was cleared to start his comeback with a reserve outing on Saturday.
