STEVEN Fletcher believes competition among the forwards can re-ignite Burnley’s winning home form against Hull City tomorrow.

The Scot tops the Clarets goalscoring charts so far with five league and cup goals following his record summer move.

Robbie Blake and on-loan David Nugent are hot on his heels with two Premier League goals apiece, while Chris Eagles has scored in both league and cup.

Fletcher has found the net in consecutive home games against Birmingham and Wigan Athletic, who ended Burnley’s 10-game winning run last weekend.

But the 22-year-old Scotland international believes that by working together they can get the Clarets back on track.

“I thought we started the game well (against Wigan), we got the early goal. It’s just disappointing we made a few mistakes at the back and lost goals but these things happen in football, we’ll pick ourselves up and hopefully pick up three points at the weekend,” said Fletcher, who admitted the relationships he is forging with his fellow forwards are helping him to settle, on and off the pitch, and score goals.

“They’ve been great with me. As soon as I came down they welcomed me.

“Being one of the younger ones, along with Pato (Martin Paterson) it’s been a great experience for me.”
