ACCRINGTON Stanley are not ruling out the possibility of having to sell players to help them out of their current financial situation.

The Reds look set to avoid winding up proceedings by paying off a £308,000 tax bill before their October 28 deadline, but it is likely that a tight rein will still be kept on the purse strings in the near future.

Stanley, who host American side Austin Aztex - managed by former Burnley boss Adrian Heath - in a fund-raising friendly at the Crown Ground tonight at the earlier time of 7pm, have impressed on the field in recent weeks and the club have received tentative enquiries about players.

“We’ve had nothing concrete, no approaches, just a couple of phone calls,” revealed assistant manager Jimmy Bell.

“Possibly we might have to sell players, and with the likes of Michael Symes, Bobby Grant, Jimmy Ryan and Phil Edwards I couldn’t say they’re not for sale because everyone is at the right price.

“But any offer would have to be on the merits of what they are worth rather than what the club’s situation is.”
