JIMMY Ryan's fine 25-yard strike gave Accrington Stanley only their second win in 10 games in tonight's derby against Morecambe.

Ryan scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute after letting fly from outside the box and Stanley were full value for their victory against their Lancashire rivals in League Two.

Paul Mullin had seen an early effort saved by Barry Roche, while the Morecambe keeper also did well to stop a long-range shot from Ryan.

Mullin then missed a good chance to score when he headed wide as Stanley put Morecambe under early pressure.

After Ryan had put the Reds ahead in the second half, Morecambe's Fraser McLachlan saw an effort saved by Kenny Arthur.

But Stanley almost made it 2-0 later when defender Adam Yates had to clear Andy Procter's shot.
