WANDERERS are open to offers for full-back Nicky Hunt.

The former England Under-21 international, on loan at Birmingham City until January 10, has yet to make a first-team start at the Reebok this season.

Since moving to St Andrews, the defender has impressed in nine appearances so far, fuelling speculation that Alex McLeish could make the signing permanent next month.

Megson has left the ball in Birmingham’s court.

“Once we get to that point we’ll be able to answer what will happen next,” he said.

“We’ve got him on a 24-hour recall.

“At the moment it suits both parties and they are paying his full wages now, so it suits us even more than it did.

“Nick is getting games and Birmingham are getting a good player. We’ll keep it like that until his loan deal ends.

“He’s doing well but then we’d expect that, he’s a Premier League player.”

It also looks a case of when, and not if, Heidar Helguson’s move to QPR is made permanent.

The Iceland international is currently on loan at Loftus Road but as a stipulation of his contract, can transfer clubs in January if he completes a certain number of games.

“A lot of the time Heidar hasn’t played it has been down to the form of Nicolas Anelka, Johan Elmander or Kevin Davies,” he said. “He had one or two injuries in between but has been fine for a while now.

“He’s got an opportunity down at QPR and there is something that will trigger after a couple of games. He is playing them at the moment and scored on Saturday, so he’s doing well for them.”
