BURNLEY will be aiming for 'Capital Punishment IV' after being drawn to face Tottenham in the semi finals of the Carling Cup.

The Clarets have knocked out London-based Premier League sides Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal in the previous three rounds and are just two legs away from a Wembley final.

The first leg will take place at White Hart Lane on January 6 or 7, with the second leg at Turf Moor on January 20 or 21.

Tottenham, now managed by Harry Redknapp, won 2-1 at Watford in their quarter-final clash on Wednesday after a home win against Liverpool in the previous round.

The draw will bring back memories of Burnley's League Cup win over Spurs at Turf Moor in 2002 and a 4-1 triumph at White Hart Lane in the quarter finals in 1982 - the season the Clarets last reached the semi finals.

Tottenham did, however, win 3-0 at Turf Moor in the League Cup when the sides last met in 2004.

Ticket news for the two legs is expected to be announced next week.

The winners will face Derby or Manchester United in the final, with the first leg of the other semi final taking place at Pride Park.
