Chorley failed to break the deadlock in this FA Trophy first round match after squandering several chances in an entertaining encounter.
There was no shortage of neat build-up play by the Magpies but, as so often this season the cutting edge was lacking.
Chorley started brightly and Mike Eckersley came close with a couple of efforts before forcing keeper Richard Mottram to save well with his legs from close range.
While Chorley had most of the possession Warrington always looked dangerous on the break and Rob Henry made a good defensive header after a cross evaded keeper Peter Collinge.
The best chance of the half fell to Chorley five minutes before half-time when Roger Sharrock forced a good reaction save from Mottram and the ball fell at the feet of Jordan Connerton just five yards from the goal line but his instinctive shot was just wide.
The tricky Sharrock continued to look dangerous on the wing but his good work often went to waste as there was a lack of bodies in the area to pick up the final ball.
It could have cost Chorley dear, as just before the break Warrington had a golden opportunity to take the lead with just the keeper to beat, but Collinge made an excellent save.
Chorley continued to play the better football in the second half but chances were few aside from an attempted lob from Eckersley which was narrowly wide and in the end the Magpies had to settle for draw and will hope to do better in the reply at Warrington on Tuesday night.
