Darwen gained their first league victory of the season in an eventful game at New Sirs against eight-man Daisy Hill – who had won all their previous league matches this season.

Daisy Hill took the lead on six minutes.

But the Salmoners levelled on 23 minutes, with Rick volleying home.

A period of Daisy Hill pressure saw them regain the lead on the half hour, with Johnston on target.

The second half was two minutes old when Darwen equalised as Tony Roscoe shook off his marker to fire home.

Darwen took the lead on 53 minutes. Sustained pressure saw shots from Rick Fogarty blocked, and then Liam McMillan’s effort seemed to be helped over the line by right back Quadrio.

Daisy Hill were later reduced to 10 men, before Darwen scored their fourth.

Tony Roscoe made it four with a low striker, whose low strike gave Vickers in goal no chance.

Two more Daisy Hill players were given their marching orders, before Ashley Higgins and Ed O’Neil wrapped things up for Darwen.
