IT’S a big weekend for the locals as the Northern League season warms-up towards a sizzling conclusion.

Morecambe are hot on the heels on leaders Blackpool and second-placed Kendal - and will be looking to spoil the party for Carnforth’s brilliant professional Ryan Bailey.

Bailey, who until he hit a sticky spell was set to smash the Northern League batting record, returns to South Africa after Saturday’s derby at Albert Street.

And he will be determined to bow out on a high.Lancaster travel to cellar dwellers Fleetwood as they look for a confidence-boosting success in their troubled season.

There is also a full programme on Bank Holiday Monday as Morecambe host Lancaster on derby day with Carnforth crossing the Bay to Barrow.

And Morecambe have a busy weekend as they are in action on Sunday when they try again to play their much-delayed Furness Building Society Cup semi-final against Leyland.

Wickets are pitched at Woodhill Lane at 1.30pm - and if the rain intervenes for a third time, the tie will be settled by a bowl-out with the winners due to host Preston in the final next weekend.
