BLACKBURN Rovers are developing quite a following in Norway – thanks to the exploits of Morten Gamst Pedersen!

The Blackburn Rovers Supporters Club Norway, which was originally founded in 1999 and then reformed four years ago, now has upwards of 250 members, many of whom make the pilgrimage to Ewood Park at least four times a season to watch their heroes in action.

Kjetil Waething first came up with the idea of forming the club, and BRSCN are now the 17th biggest supporters club in Norway, thanks in no small part to the popularity of Pedersen.

Jone Strømsvåg, editor of BRSCN’s quarterly magazine, Uncle Jack’s, said: “When the club first started it only had one member, but now we have 250 and that number’s growing all the time.

“We try to get over to Ewood at least four times a season, and the size of the groups can vary from 10 to 30 people.

“We take great pride in where the supporters club is at the moment, considering our relatively small fanbase in contrast to some of the other clubs.”

Rovers have a strong Norwegian connection, having signed the likes of Henning Berg, Stig Inge Bjornebye, Egil Ostenstad, Tore Pedersen and, of course, Morten Gamst Pedersen, during the last 15 years.

As well as flying the flag for Rovers off the pitch, BRSCN are also doing their bit on the pitch too, having recently won a prestigious supporters tournament in Oslo.

The competition is an annual event, where supporters of British teams come together and play each other, and BRSCN beat 43 other clubs to the title this summer, defeating Wimbledon 1-0 in the final.
