Blackburn Rovers icon Bradley Dack is on the lookout for a new club after he was released by Sunderland.

The attacker signed a one-year deal at The Stadium of Light last season but injuries have restricted him to 16 first-team appearances. Following the departure of Tony Mowbray, an extension felt unlikely and the club have confirmed he has been released.

Rovers opted against triggering Dack's contract last summer after he fell out of favour with Jon Dahl Tomasson. With hindsight, that has proved the right decision.

Corry Evans is also leaving Sunderland after the club opted against extending his contract by 12 months. The Black Cats skipper suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for 15 months.

He returned to full training in March but at the age of 33, Sunderland have decided to move him on as well. Evans joined Sunderland in 2021 after eight years at Ewood Park.

Evans said: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from the club.

"This club, and all of you, have been my family for the past three years, and leading this team as captain has been the greatest honour of my career.

"Your unwavering support, passion, and loyalty have been a constant source of inspiration to me and my teammates.

“Together, we've experienced unforgettable highs. That day at Wembley is one that I will never forget. It's been a privilege to fight for this badge and to represent you on the pitch."

Huddersfield Town have also confirmed that Jordan Rhodes will leave the club after three years. The striker spent last season on loan at Blackpool. Connor Mahoney has also departed at the end of his deal.
