Rovers winger Ryan Hedges has been shortlisted for the Championship Goal of the Month Award for August.

Hedges produced a moment of magic in the 1-0 victory at Watford, skipping past his man and juggling the ball in the box before lashing home from a tight angle.

The Welshman now faces competition from Ozan Tufan, Aaron Ramsey and Jay Stansfield for the prize.

Tufan found the top corner with a ruthless strike from 25 yards in a 4-2 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

Ramsey, who rejoined boyhood club Cardiff over the summer, scored a 30-yard screamer in a 2-1 defeat at Leicester.

Stansfield deftly lifted the ball over a defender and rifled into the roof of the net 30 minutes into his Birmingham debut after joining on loan from Fulham.

Speaking about his goal, Hedges said: “I trusted my right foot and thankfully, it went in.

“I saw the defender coming so thought if I could chip it over him and lift it past him, I’d be away and be able to get myself set.

“I have to back myself a lot more, but I remember looking up, seeing nobody else in the box and realising it was my only option.

“I back my ability and I know what I can do and I’ve got to keep adding more goals and assists to my game.”

Fans can vote for their favourite goal on the official EFL website and have until 5pm on Monday, September 11 to choose their favourite.

Supporters’ votes will be combined with the choices from the judging panel, which is made up of Sky Sports pundits Don Goodman and David Prutton. The winner will be announced on Friday, September 15.
