I'M making three wishes for Burnley over the festive period.

First of all, to see Andy Gray back in form and banging in the goals again.

Secondly, for the Clarets to finally end their drought at Turf Moor and win at home.

And lastly, for Owen Coyle to get the players he wants in the January transfer window, to make Burnley a force in the second half of the season.

It's strange to see Andy out of sorts. He's always been consistent with his goalscoring and his finishing is among the best in the Championship.

He's our main goalscorer and he leads from the front. When Andy's on top of his game, we're a very confident side. But if he's struggling and missing chances, which is happening at the moment, it seems to affect the whole team in the opposite way.

But all strikers go through little barren spells, and Andy has always come across as a confident lad. I'm expecting him to come through this with flying colours.

While Andy's our main man up front, I'm sure the manager's priority in January is for another out and out goalscorer. That's imperative.

Obviously, goalscorers are few and far between. But I've got a sneaking suspicion that Owen's got someone up his sleeve, perhaps someone from Scotland.

I would love to play two strikers up front, with Robbie Blake tucked in behind them in an advanced midfield role. It's crying out for that at home.

We also need an authentic left-winger. Kyle Lafferty's done his best, but's he languishing on the left flank.

Kyle's not got the ability to to get past the full-back and fire crosses in. He should be up front alongside Gray.

Steve Jones has lost his glow since he's come to Turf Moor, so that's another problem position.

Another defender is needed, especially at centre-back and Owen must have his eyes on those areas.

The Burnley board have now got to back the new manager. I'm sure they would have promised him money before he took on the role.

We've now got four games in the festive period, but it's a horrendously difficult time for clubs like Burnley with suspensions and injuries lining up.

How we fare during this tricky period could determine where we are heading this season.
