A DARTS competition is set to begin in the New Year to raise money for charity and remember the wife of one of the area's keenest players.

Keith Murray has organised the competition in memory of his wife Sharon who sadly past away earlier this year following a short illness.

The Sharon Murray Grand Prix will begin in January and will run over eight weeks.

Sharon died in April just 10 weeks after she was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor.

Players for the competition will be selected by Keith and will be a mixture of people who knew Sharon.

The competition is scheduled to be held at the Cabin End pub with matches played every Thursday.

Money raised from the competition will be donated to the MacMillan Nurses Fund.

Prize money will also be awarded and while there is an entry fee, Keith his hoping to secure sponsorship from a local business.

Keith said: "This event is in memory of Sharon so it would be great to see as many people as possible support it."
