LANCASHIRE chairman Jack Simmons insists new captain Stuart Law is the right man to take the club forward despite his advancing years.
At the club's general committee meeting on Tuesday evening, 39-year-old Law was seen as the perfect choice to succeed Mark Chilton, despite fierce competition for the role.
Luke Sutton and Dominic Cork were also considered candidates for the job - and had both captained their former county, Derbyshire - but Simmons insists Law's record as Queensland captain put him head and shoulders above the rest.
"The success that he had in Queensland has never been matched," said Simmons.
"It just shows how good a leader he was and I'm hoping he can bring that expertise to Lancashire next season.
"Age has never even entered my head. I'd be a hyprocrite if I said it did.
"But if you are still perfoming how Stuart performs, then there's something there for him to help this side."
