Steven Reid lasted just 28 minutes of Blackburn Rovers' reserve match with Liverpool last night before limping off with a leg injury.
The midfielder, who only recently returned to action following 14 months on the sidelines, appeared to suffer a hamstring strain and was immediately withdrawn as a precaution.
Reserve team manager Glyn Hodges later insisted the problem was not considered to be too serious, but the club's medical staff will know more when they assess the 26-year-old today.
Hodges said last night: "It looks as if he's got a bit of a strain.
"He felt a bit of uneasiness but it's not a massive problem.
"It was a precaution to get him off the pitch. We'll be able to assess it more in the morning."
Rovers ended up drawing 0-0 with Liverpool's second string, but they finished the game with 10 men after Sergio Peter was sent off for aiming a retaliatory kick at Sebastian Leto.
