ROVERS have reminded fans not to invade the pitch at the final whistle of today’s League One finale at home to Oxford to allow the post-match celebrations to take place.

Whether Rovers manage to overhaul Wigan at the top of the table or not, there will be a trophy presentation at the final whistle, as either champions or runners-up.

Tony Mowbray, his staff and the players then go on a lap of honour to thank the fans for their support throughout the season.

More than 25,000 fans are expected inside Ewood Park for the final game of the season with Rovers’ promotion already secured, while visitors Oxford have contributed around 1,000 to that tally as both sides sign off their campaign.

Prior to the game, Rovers club’s player of the year and goal of the season awards will be announced on the pitch.

At half-time both Rovers Ladies and the club’s Under-23 side’s achievements will be celebrated.

Gemma Donnelly’s Ladies side have already sewn up the FA Women’s Premier League Cup while Damien Johnson’s youngsters won the Premier League 2 Division Two title.

The first-team are hoping for it to be a day of celebration all round, with three points meaning they could be crowned champions should Wigan Athletic slip up at Doncaster Rovers.

Ticket prices have been reduced for the Ewood finale, with adult tickets available at £10 until 3pm when they revert to normal Category B prices ahead of the 5.30pm kick-off.

A club spokesman said: “The safety of players, managers, fans and match officials is of paramount importance and supporters who encroach onto the pitch risk facing banning orders as well as a criminal conviction, while the club could also face a fine.

“Thank you for your continued support and understanding in this matter and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.”
