TONY Mowbray wants his Rovers side to maintain their intensity during a busy period of games as they look to continue their impressive form on the road.

Rovers have conceded just four times on their travels this season, the fewest in the EFL, and picked up their fourth away win with a 3-0 success at Bury at the weekend.

That moved Rovers back into the top six of League One having lost just two of their previous 14 league fixtures, and they are unbeaten in their trips to four of the league’s top five sides.

Ahead of a trip to seventh-placed Oxford Mowbray said: “We are working really hard. I have drilled it into them that there are no easy games.

“You have to make sure that your levels and anticipation of the next challenge is intense.

“Every team is fit, organised and has a game-plan, no-one rolls over because Blackburn Rovers are coming to town and let you beat them. We have to have a real intensity about the way that we go.

“The first two games of the season off the scorecard, it’s okay. It’s two defeats from 14 and the losses to AFC Wimbledon and Oldham, we have to kick ourselves that we lost those games.

“But it’s great credit when you look at the league table to know that we have been away to the likes of Shrewsbury, Wigan, Bradford and Scunthorpe, four of the top five, so as long as you grow and keep believing we can capitalise on the games at home.

“We have given ourselves a chance, not sitting here thinking that we have those games (away at promotion rivals) to come, it’s good that we have got them out of the way and we have to keep working hard, stick together and keep picking up results as we go.”

Rovers, yet to name an unchanged side this season, visit Oxford on the back of Saturday’s 3-0 win at Bury and Mowbray is again contemplating changes.

He added: “We have to be conscious regardless of the result. We have to protect the players. I was listening to Pep Guardiola talking about John Stones, they are human beings not robots.

“We have to be mindful of who we feel can get through three games a week.

“There might be a change or two but it won’t be a reflection of their performance, sometimes you make changes because you are mindful of the games to come.

“You might have a home game coming up in which you feel you will have more of the ball or one away from home where you have to make sure you have more energy and athleticism and pick teams accordingly. As long as the group understand everyone is required and if you are sat on the bench then it means we need you to give your maximum in three days.”
