Tom Heaton 7
A quiet first half but made two saves from Marcos Alonso early in the second half, one an excellent stop from a free-kick
Matt Lowton 7
Got forward well when Burnley had the numerical advantage and it was his cross that led to Vokes opening the scoring
James Tarkowski 7
Pressed his case to be Ben Mee’s new partner with an encouraging display, but did lose Morata for Chelsea’s first goal
Ben Mee 8
A senior man in this Clarets side now and gave Morata a ‘welcome to the Premier League’ with one crunching tackle
Stephen Ward 8
Continued the form he showed towards the end of last season and his goal will live long in the memory. A stunning strike
Johann Berg Gudmundsson 6
Never really got into the game despite the odd promising moment, but others took on the creative mantle
Steven Defour 9
Looks to be up for the fight to save his Clarets career. Brilliant ball in for Vokes goal and looked much improved on last season
Jack Cork 8
Like Defour he helped Burnley take control of the game and use the ball well in the first half when they took advantage of Cahill’s red card
Robbie Brady 7
Saw a lot of the ball in open play and he looked a creative threat. Hit the post with a late free-kick
Jeff Hendrick 7
Plenty of energy in his pressing early on, trying to force Chelsea into mistakes. Did well to get up in support of Vokes
Sam Vokes 9 (Man of the Match)
In the form of his life right now. Two well taken goals took his record to seven in his last six games and he became the first Claret to score in four successive Premier League appearances. Looks full of confidence at the moment and can play that lone striker role well
