TONY McMahon has emerged as a target for Blackburn Rovers, with the full-back facing an uncertain future at Bradford City.

McMahon is out of contract with the League One side and although he has been offered a new deal by Stuart McCall, is yet to commit his future to the Bantams.

Bolton boss Phil Parkinson was thought to be the frontrunner for McMahon’s signature but his interest has cooled since he snapped up right-back back Mark Little.

There are still Championship sides interested in McMahon, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands that the full-back – who worked with Tony Mowbray at Middlesbrough – is on Rovers’ radar.

Dead-ball specialist McMahon joined Bradford in March 2015 and has made 88 appearances, scoring 13 goals, helping the Bantams reach the play-offs in successive seasons.

He has also spent time with Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Blackpool in a career which has seen him make over 350 appearances.

Bradford head of recruitment Greg Abbott confirmed there is interest in McMahon who he admits now faces a decision over his future.

He told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus: “I think Tony is looking at something else, if I’m honest. There's a lot of interest in Tony and he’s got a decision to make.

“That’s another reason why signing a right back at the minute becomes doubly difficult because you’ve got Tony’s situation that needs resolving.

“We’re waiting for decisions from them and then we can hopefully start putting the jigsaw back together.”
