Michael Keane played like he'd been in the side for years. Composed, carried the ball forward well and made a few exceptional passes.

He showed his versatility by playing in a three against Germany so it's been no surprise to see him draw plaudits from outside of Burnley. If I was Gareth Southgate, I'd be pairing Keane with John Stones so they can build a partnership that could serve England well for years to come.

We all knew how good he was but now the country knows how good he is. I expect he'll move on in the summer but it's been a pleasure to see him mature into the player he is today.

I thought he looked very assured and arguably Michael Keane was England's best player over the course of both games and never looked out of place and no doubt the bigger clubs will be circling to be his next club.

A word for Tom Heaton too who I thought was desperately unlucky not to be given his chance in the qualifier especially when you see how many mistakes Joe Hart has made this season off the public radar in Torino while Tom has hardly put a foot wrong.

ANDREW GREENWOOD

I thought he looked very much a part of the team. A very confident couple of games.

The only trouble is, it’s bound to attract more potential bidders in the summer. It would be great if we could keep hold of him for another year but if we do have to sell him then we should be getting close to what John Stones went to Man City for.

He certainly looks like he has an England future.
