BLACKBURN Rovers boss Owen Coyle’s January transfer kitty could be boosted by a cash windfall following Martin Olsson’s move to Premier League strugglers Swansea City.

The Sweden international joined Paul Clement’s side from Norwich City earlier this week for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £4m.

Rovers inserted a 15 per cent of any profit sell-on fee into the deal when they sold the 28-year-old to the Canaries in 2013 for £3m and as a result could land £150,000 from the deal.

Olsson made more than 100 appearances for Rovers during his seven-year stay in East Lancashire.

The cash could provide a timely boost for Coyle who is keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Rovers are in the Championship relegation zone, a point from safety, ahead of Saturday’s home game with an out-of-form Birmingham City.

The Ewood boss has so far been unable to bring in any new faces as he waits for the green light from owners Venky’s.

But the Olsson income could help provide the club’s owners to provide Coyle with the finances to act this month.

The Rovers chief has previously indicated that he has three targets lined up to bring to the club should he get the go-ahead from India.
