BLACKBURN Rovers are set to welcome Ben Marshall back in to the side for the weekend trip to neighbours Preston after serving a one-match suspension.

Marshall is expected to return at right-back, after missing the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield, with teenager Ryan Nyambe set to drop to the bench having made his first Rovers start last week.

The Huddersfield draw was the first game that Marshall has missed in the league this season, but having served his suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card, Coyle is set to revert to the side which recorded back-to-back wins over Brentford and Newcastle.

“It is obviously great to have Ben Marshall available,” the Rovers boss said.

“I thought young Ryan Nyambe came in and I thought he acquitted himself well, but Ben has been doing well for us so it is great for us to have him back in the squad.

“Hopefully we will have a similar squad, plus Ben Marshall, available.

“There was only change last week from the team which won the previous two games so without giving too much away, I don’t think you have to be a rocket scientist to work out too much as to what happens when everyone is fit and available.

“Nyambe has a different skill set and brings different attributes to what Ben does, but there’s no doubt Marshall has been outstanding and a big player for us in recent months.”

While the Rovers side has somewhat picked itself in recent weeks, Coyle says he is happy with the options available to him.

He added: “We were fortunate enough to be able to play the same team for two weeks in a row when we won those back-to-back games.

“We had to make the change last week because of suspension, but I’ve always said that it has to be a fair fight, if you do well you stay in the team and if not, then we have the option now we are getting players back.”
