Should Ben Marshall be recalled to the side, and if so, in place of who?
Kelvin Wilkins
Ben Marshall has not been in fine form this season but his mere presence gives us hope. I would certainly reinstate him to the starting line-up.
Liam Feeney has a lot to prove to the Rovers fans after his first stint at the club and his recent run in the team has done him no more harm, Huddersfield performance aside.
Ryan Nyambe had an encouraging game and I would like to see him bloodied into the team, but he lacked the confidence going forward and left Liam Feeney isolated at times.
I'm sure that will come, it has at youth level, but for now, Marshall must return to right back.
Paul Yates
Whether he plays at right back or in midfield, his enigmatic talent is something Rovers cannot easily dispense with and let us hope he can help prevent the opposition having 28 shots at goal.
With the team in such a precarious position I'm afraid this is not the time to be blooding inexperienced players, promising though they may be.
So we revert to the team that defeated Newcastle and ponder as to who will deliver the knockout punch.
Sam Jones
Ryan Nyambe had an accomplished full debut against Huddersfield and there is more to come from the youngster in the future. But Ben Marshall should regain his place at right-back for the trip to Preston. Rovers were not at their best on Saturday and having to make a change to the back four did not help. They were fortunate not to concede more than one goal and to come away with a point.
Marshall has put in some below-par performances so far this season, but he is still one of the best players at the club. Liam Feeney has been improving during his run of games in the side, but starting Elliott Bennett on the right wing instead would refreshen the team up and give Rovers something different going forward.
Meanwhile, Danny Graham is slowly getting back to the form he showed last season, while Sam Gallagher has been the standout performer, despite a quiet afternoon last time out. Starting those two has left Marvin Emnes out of the side. This is another difficult decision for Owen Coyle to make in order to maintain momentum going and try to keep everyone happy.
