BEN Mee wants to see Burnley continue to take their Turf Moor approach to games on the road after welcoming an improvement in the second half at Stoke City.

Although the Clarets slumped to a fifth defeat in six top flight games this season at the Bet365 Stadium, they did show signs of improvement in the second half in the Potteries.

Central defender Mee believes that come about as they tried to replicate their Turf Moor style and he believes that is the way forward as Burnley seek an end to their away day blues, with two trips to London to face struggling West Ham United and high-flying Tottenham Hotspur next week.

“It’s a bit more like how we play at Turf Moor, that second half,” the 27-year-old said. “We had them on the rocks a little bit, the crowd were a bit nervous and if we had got that goal it might have pushed us on to get the equaliser.”

Despite that improved second half it was another afternoon of disappointment away from home for the Clarets and they have taken just a single point and a single goal from their travels this season.

Having faced an average of almost 25 shots a game away from home until Saturday, the fact Stoke mustered just 10 efforts at the Burnley goal is an improvement, but crucially they did find the back of the net on two occasions, scoring twice in the first half after the Clarets had started brightly.

“It was frustrating,” Mee said of another away day reverse.

“We’ve dominated the second half. Even in the first half we started well and came out flying. Obviously they get the goal and it kind of knocks us back a little bit and we didn’t react from that. Second half we came out a lot better and it’s just a shame we couldn’t get that little bit of quality to test the keeper.”

Burnley will have two chances to turn their away form on its head next week, and Mee is confident they can crack it sooner rather than later.

“Definitely,” he said. “We’ll keep working hard at doing that. We’re an honest bunch of lads. I’m sure we’ll be working really hard to do that.”

Burnley are back to home comforts this weekend when they welcome Bournemouth to Turf Moor.

“Every game is a big game, especially ones against teams that are going to be around us,” said Mee. “It’s going to be a big game for us and we’ll take encouragement from that second half I’m sure. We’ll put on a performance at Turf that will hopefully win us the game.”
