SO the vultures are circling again, with Kyle Lafferty their prey.

I'm sorry Mr McCarthy and Mr Moxey, but the reported figure of £1-million just isn't enough to tempt Burnley Football Club in any way, shape or form.

They say that every footballer has his price. I'm not sure what Kyle's would be but we would want more, much more, than that to even contemplate the idea of letting him go.

Plus the last thing you really want to do is sell one of your prized assets to one of your league rivals.

Kyle is a player for the future.

I remember, years ago, Malcolm Allison saying that he was buying potential. That's what players like Kyle are at this stage. He has still to fulfil his potential and he will do that by working with the manager and coaching staff over the next two or three years. That must be something he wanted to do when he signed his new contract last season.

Kyle's priorty this year has got to be establish himself in the first team.

It would be foolish to think that he will always be a Burnley player, but hopefully both he and Chris McCann will become first team regulars and increase in value all the while.

Someone else who could make the club a profit in the long-run is Besart Berisha.

This time next week, the fate of the Albanian international will be decided when his work permit application is heard, and I can't see any reason why he shouldn't be granted one with the club having specialist professionals working on the case.

I watched Berisha in the England game and thought he looked lively. Some might see him as a bit of a gamble, but I don't. And, to be honest, £340,000 is a bargain as I can see him being worth a lot more than that in the future.

But the summer makeover doesn't just apply to the squad, with director Brendan Flood expecting to be able to unveil plans for a Turf Moor facelift within the next month, to update the rest of the ground after developments to the James Hargreaves and Jimmy McIlroy Stands.

Not only will it make the ground more aesthetically pleasing, but it is also likely to encourage more day-to-day revenue opportunities.

The Bob Lord Stand is used for functions with the 1882 Lounge but that and, in particular, the Cricket Field Stand are looking a bit tired and dated now.

Added to that Steve Cotterill has been a big advocate of moving the changing rooms and the tunnel away from the visiting fans so the Clarets could be in for some grand designs.
