MARVIN Emnes is open to extending his Rovers loan spell after admitting he is enjoying playing regular first team football.

The dreadlocked Dutchman has become a fans’ favourite since arriving from Swansea City on transfer deadline day in a deal that runs out on January 15.

He has scored three goals in 11 appearances for the club and, since Danny Graham’s injury forced the striker onto the sidelines, Emnes has struck up a promising partnership with Sam Gallagher in the Rovers attack.

The 28-year-old found first-team football hard to come by in South Wales, playing only four games for the Swans last season, and was farmed out by ex-manager Francesco Guidolin. But despite the Italian being replaced at the Liberty Stadium by Bob Bradley, Emnes says he is only focused on impressing at Ewood.

“There’s always people that are trying to get into your head and say stuff about you have to come back in January and try to get your chance again with Swansea,” he said.

“But I’m not bothered about that. I’m just focused on being here, playing games week in week out, and when it comes to the last day of my transfer then we will see what’s going to happen.

“I’ve been at Swansea for two years now and we’ve had different managers.

“For now I’m playing football again so I’m not going to think about what’s going to happen at Swansea.

“I’ve still got a couple of months here with Blackburn and I’m enjoying my time here.

“I get along with the lads, so I’m not really thinking about what’s going to happen in January – I’m just focused on the games that are coming up.

“We can always talk about it (extending Rovers loan) - I am open to everything.

“They have given me a chance to play here so I can always listen and see what we can do.”

The former Netherlands Under-21 international admits he found it tough at first to adapt to the high fitness levels demanded in the Championship, but says he is enjoying the challenge and believes Rovers deserve to be higher up the table than their current third-from-bottom slot.

He said: “I think the first game was a bit difficult because I hadn’t played first team football for a long time.

“Especially in the Championship, where you’re played Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, it’s more games and a lot of 90 minutes, so it’s quite tough but I am getting there.”

He added: “We’re in the bottom three, but we have a lot of games coming up.

“If we get a couple of good results on the bounce I’m sure we’re not going to be there for long.

“I think 100 per cent we are better than our league position.

“You can see that even if we don’t play well we make sure that we don’t concede a lot and we create chances as well.

“Sometimes you have to be more lucky than the other team to win games.”
