SATURDAY’S late defeat at Bristol City on Saturday was a bit of a sickener for Rovers, but it’s all about getting results at the moment.

From the reports I’ve read the team did alright at Ashton Gate, but when you pick the paper up on a Sunday morning it says you’ve got beaten 1-0. It doesn’t say how you played.

Rovers have got five at home out of the next eight in the run-up to Christmas and they need to win their home games to start with.

If they can get a run going at Ewood Park, it gives the players more confidence and the fans a bit of confidence.

If they can also nick points away from home it should push them up the table a bit.

But it’s not easy to do that in the Championship, and the injuries that are starting to mount up are not making life any easier.

As a manager you want a balanced side which is playing week in, week out. If they’re winning players get confidence and you want to keep a settled team.

The worse thing they could have at the moment, in the position they’re in, is to get injuries - you just don’t need that.

When I was at Blackburn I had a double hernia which kept me out for eight or nine weeks, and it’s a nightmare for a player.

It’s especially hard when your team is struggling as you just want to get out there, playing and trying to help your team.

If you’re playing well at the time you get injured it’s a setback and it can knock your confidence.

You just hate being injured - whether you’re out for two weeks or 12 weeks. Total nightmare.

Whoever Coyle has fit, Saturday’s home match against a struggling Wolves side is a good opportunity for the team to get to winning ways - and in front of the TV cameras.

But there is a planned protest by fans, which could have an effect on the result.

The idea is to wait until the 18th minute to take their seats, and then leave on 75 minutes - marking the year of the club’s formation.

I have sympathy with the fans with the way it’s been going. You’ve got to feel sorry for them.

We’ve worried about it for two of three years, what’s going on at the club, and this season seems to be a bit of a backwards step again.

I understand that Owen Coyle has been given money to spend, it’s just what he gets in.

At the end of the day, the fans pay the money watch the football team play so they can say what they want to say.

You can’t stop them; they’re the people who keep the club going.

But them coming in late and leaving early could have an effect. I’m not saying it upsets you when you’re playing, but it can upset your concentration.
