Should Owen Coyle’s side beat last season’s beaten play-off finalists they will make it three league wins on the run for the first time since March 2015.

Rovers made it back-to-back victories on Saturday with a 2-1 triumph over Derby County which hauled them out of the relegation places.

Elliott Bennett, Jack Byrne and Stephen Hendrie missed out on a spot on the substitutes’ bench at the iPro Stadium.

Once Anthony Stokes, Charlie Mulgrew, Elliott Ward and Adam Henley return competition for places will increase further.

And midfielder Evans, who joined Rovers from Hull City in the summer of 2013, said: “Maybe the last few years at Blackburn players have been guaranteed starting roles.

“But now they’re not. There are a lot of players who have come in, everyone wants to do well and wants to play, and credit to the manager for making that happen on a tight budget.

“If you look at players who aren’t playing they are first-team players.

“But they’ve not been down, they’ve been pushing the lads on, which is credit to them.

“It’s a squad game, there are a lot of games in the Championship, and we need everybody to be fit and ready to be called upon.”

Rovers boss Coyle is expected to select the same side for the third Championship match running this evening.

And Evans said: “We had a hard start to the season, we didn’t get the results we wanted, and the performances weren’t the best.

“But recently we’ve improved and in the last two games we’ve been very good and managed to get two wins.

“Saturday against Derby was a real team effort. We all dug in for each other, came from a goal behind to win the game, and afterwards it was buzzing in the changing room.

“If you want to make ground in this league you need to put wins together and hopefully we can continue that against Sheffield Wednesday.

“We’re full of confidence and we’ll take the game to them and try and get the three points.”

Coyle added: “If we are at our very best it’s a game we can go and win.

“We are wary of their threat and we have to be because they have wonderful players but equally we have shown we can be a decent team that can win games and in a manner which people enjoy.”

Wednesday will be roared on by more than 2,400 fans tonight and Evans and his manager have called on the Rovers faithful to recreate the atmosphere at Derby and at home to Rotherham United last time out at Ewood Park.

Coyle said: “Against Rotherham the fans were magnificent. At 3-2 when they could have got nervous they picked the players up and went again.

“Again at Derby, when we went 1-0 behind you’d have thought we’d have gone 1-0 in front because the fans got behind us because they recognised how well the players were playing.

“We’ll need them again (against Wednesday). When fans get behind the players it really does help them, no doubt about it.”

Evans added: “Particularly Rotherham I was very impressed by the fans. They’ve not had a lot to shout and cheer about of late but they got behind us.

“Hopefully we can push on together throughout the season.”
