BLACKBURN Rovers have completed the signing of former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown on a free transfer.

Brown has been training with the club since his release from Sunderland in the summer.

And now the 36-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

Brown, who won 16 major honours for United, will also spend time working with Damien Johnson and David Dunn, who coach the club’s under-23 team.

After picking up a calf injury at Rovers’ pre-season training camp in Austria, the 23-capped international proved his fitness by making three appearances for the under-23s in the Premier League 2.

Brown is expected to go straight into the first-team squad for Saturday’s Championship clash at Derby County.
