ACCRINGTON Stanley’s reward for their stunning EFL Cup second-round victory over Burnley is a last-32 clash at West Ham United – while Blackburn Rovers will make their way to Championship rivals Leeds United.
Stanley booked their place in the third round for the first time in the club’s history with a 1-0 home win over the Premier League Clarets tonight.
Former Rovers youngster Matt Pearson struck 14 seconds from the end of normal time in extra-time to settle the Wham Stadium encounter.
And now League Two Stanley will head to another top-flight outfit, West Ham, and their new 60,000 Olympic Stadium home next month.
Rovers will make back-to-back midweek trips to Leeds as the clubs will first meet at Elland Road in the Championship on Tuesday, September 13.
Third-round ties will be played on Tuesday, September 21 or Wednesday, September 22.
Pearson said after his famous winner against Burnley: “It’s great. Just look at the fans. It’s class.
“The ball fell to me and I just smashed it.”
