ACCRINGTON Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell is confident new signing Frazer Shaw will be a big hit at the Wham Stadium declaring: "We're expecting big things."

The 21-year-old left back has signed a two year contract with the Reds having left League Two side Leyton Orient in the summer and Bell has backed the former West Ham youngster to be a success in East Lancashire.

“He’ll balance the team up and will be a great addition for us," said Bell.

"He can play left back or up one in midfield and we’re expecting big things from him to tell you the truth. It’s a rarity for us to have a left footed player.

“We target young and hungry lads. That’s what got us where we were last season and it’s what we’ll do again.

“I asked Frazer what his ambition was and he said that it was to play at the highest level possible. That’s a great attitude to have.”

Shaw becomes the fifth player to join John Coleman's side this summer and the Reds boss is hopeful of securing more new faces before his side return to pre-season training next month.

Shaw made 30 appearances for Orient last season having joined the O’s following a spell in non-league with Billericay and Dulwich Hamlet.

“I’m very happy to be here,” he said. “It’s another opportunity for me to push on in my career. I’ve heard it’s a good club so I’m really happy to be coming here.

“I just want to really push on now, do well for the club and hopefully we can get promoted.”
