BLACKBURN Rovers have released a statement to clarify the position of Alan Myers, confirming he is on gardening leave and that he is no longer a director of the club.
The commercial and communications director, who has also been carrying out some of Derek Shaw’s responsibilities following the departure of the club’s managing director in February, announced his decision to leave last month.
But Myers, who has a six-month period of notice in his contract, had remained in situ up until this week.
However on Monday he was told to stay away from the club until his notice period ends in September.
The Rovers statement reads: “Alan recently decided to leave the club and has been placed on garden leave. He also ceases to be a director of the club.
“He will, however, remain an employee of the club for the rest of his notice period and will continue to assist the board during that time, so that they may have the benefit of Alan’s knowledge and experience.”
